How to get yourself psyched up and confident

Just before you go out to perform or take part in your sport you may be feeling a little lack lustre or low in motivation.

You need to get psyched up and ready for the task in hand!

Here are some suggestions of what you can do.

  • Move your body!

Emotion is created by motion.

The more you move your body the greater the energy you will create and you will release stimuli to the brain and nervous system.

Warm up extra hard and more intense than you usually do. Emphasis and exaggerate your arm and leg movements for maximum effect.

  • Incantations

If you can couple incantations with moving your body you will really be setting yourself up for a really good psyche!

The more you can engage your nervous system the better.

So as you move your body say out aloud certain positive sayings that will get you going like:

"I am stronger and better than all of the rest"
"All I need is within me now"
"Everyday and everyway I am feeling stronger and stronger"

Do you remember Ali as he entered the ring?

He would do a couple of laps of the ring shouting "I am the greatest!"

Now that creates emotion for everyone!

  • Visualise

Use visualisation to get yourself into a more positive state.

Imagine what it would be like if you lost after having taken this so lightly?

Imagine yourself in certain losing positions if you don't give it your all and what you would feel like afterwards knowing this.

Visualise all of the training that you have put in before and wasted if you do not give it your best.

  • Set Some Goals

If the opposition is not so hot, set yourself some personal goals for the event.

How about shooting for your personal best?

Raise your standards and want to be the very best that you can be.
